CogentQC.NET Is Shipping!

CogentQC.NET, a radically new upgrade of Cogent's award-winning suite of software tools, has been shipping since the beginning of the year.  CogentQC.NET streamlines virtually every existing function and introduces a host of powerful new features.  If you have not seen it yet, please join us for an overview via WebEx (see below for schedule).

By now, in addition to an offer to schedule your upgrade, your system administrator should also have received the CogentQC.NET Upgrade Information email.  This email, with attachments, describes the upgrade process, the sequence of system upgrades, data import options, hardware and software requirements, project planning and much else.  If no one in your organization has received this, please email support@cogentqc.com.

The effort to upgrade all Cogent systems currently under license -- at no cost to clients -- is a substantial undertaking.  No two systems are identical and each system upgrade currently requires 100 to 200 hours of Cogent programming time, depending on system customizations.  Therefore, in order to keep this undertaking manageable, Cogent will observe the following policies:

  • Existing Visual FoxPro (VFP) systems supported - All version 5 and earlier Visual FoxPro ("VFP") systems will continue to be supported through the end of their existing license terms.  "Support" means bug fixes and system corrections only.
  • No more VFP customizations - No more VFP customizations ("work orders") will be accepted after July 31, 2008.  Effective immediately, any customization tasks requested on VFP systems will be charged at 1.5 times estimated cost because they will effectively need to be done twice: once in VFP and once again in the CogentQC.NET system.
  • Free upgrade of all standard features and historical audit data - All VFP system standard features will be converted free of charge to CogentQC.NET.  This includes the base system plus all historical review data, PDF reports, audit questions and conditions, audit codes, lookup tables and reverification letters.
  • Standard import process via existing import file - The standard import process in CogentQC.NET is to use the existing VFP import file.  Direct population of the Cogent SQL Server database via DTS is also available for an extra charge.
  • Deadline for free customization conversions - All VFP system customizations will be converted free of charge to CogentQC.NET, provided that conversions are scheduled for no later than 60 days after the following dates:
    • ProductionQC        December 31, 2008
    • ServicingQC          March 31, 2009
    • ComplianceQC      June 30, 2009
    • PipelineQC            September 30, 2009
    • Due DiligenceQC    September 30, 2009
  • Dual system transition period of 60 days - After your new CogentQC.NET system is shipped, we recommend that you run both your new .NET system and your old VFP system simultaneously for a transition period.  Your license permits a transition period of 60 days.

We encourage all clients to schedule their upgrades to CogentQC.NET as soon as practicable.  Please contact support@cogentqc.com for full details.
