"Enterprise QC: Implementing Quality Solutions Companywide"

The seventh annual Cogent Quality Symposium featured three guest speakers from among Cogent's clients, each providing their own perspective on Enterprise QC.

Taking a systemic view from 30,000 feet was Rick Needles, Vice President and Director of Quality Improvement at GreenPoint Mortgage, who brings a strong Six Sigma background to QC.  Rick used the analogy of building a house to explain GreenPoint's companywide approach to QC, and established a framework for further discussion during the Symposium.

Carla McAloney, QC Manager at First Magnus Financial, followed with a discussion of her organization's initial experience with implementing an automated QC system - the challenges, the triumphs, the laughter, the tears - and recounted the dramatic results they had achieved.  Next up for First Magnus: how to roll out the Cogent methodology across their enterprise (which was the country's 20th largest originator of mortgages in the first quarter of 2005).

Finally, Stacey Ellsworth, Compliance Manager at DHI Financial, provided a perspective on her special situation as a mortgage lender owned by one of the largest home builders in the country, D.R. Horton.

As in previous years, the meat and potatoes of this year's Symposium were the interactive breakout sessions, where participants had opportunities to learn, share and innovate with peers from across the industry. These sessions are always popular and result in long term connections between Cogent users.  This year was no exception.

Finally, a 'cable car' ride around San Francisco and a superb meal at Kuleto's at Fisherman's Wharf capped the proceedings.  Rumor has it that some participants closed down Harry's Starlight Room later in the evening but this rumor is unsubstantiated...

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and for those of you who didn't, we'll see you next year!
