ANSWER |
What version of Microsoft (MS) SQL Server is Version 1.x of CogentQC.NET tested to work on? |
MS SQL Server 2005 and 2000 Standard Edition. |
Other than SQL Server, what other software is needed? |
|
| When upgrading to CogentQC.NET, what should we do with archived data? | Any archived data in your version 5 (VFP) system should be restored ("un-archived") prior to shipping your system files to Cogent for upgrade. |
Will we be able to test the new .NET System while continuing to use our current Version 5 (FoxPro) System? |
Yes. Concurrent usage is permitted during a test period. |
Will Cogent provide training to new .NET users? Will there be a cost? |
Cogent will provide free training sessions to clients remotely via WebEx. |
Will the historical data from my current Version 5 (FoxPro) System be transferred to a new .NET System? |
Virtually all aspects of your system, including historical data, configuration settings, lookup table data, and reverification letters will be transferred free of charge to your .NET system. |
Do I have to upgrade to .NET, or can I stay with our FoxPro System? |
Cogent will support your FoxPro system through the term of your current contract. |
Will there be any support limitations for continuing FoxPro System users? |
There will be no more custom work; only bug fixes and database troubleshooting will be available. |
What is the size of the client (vs. server) piece of the application? |
About the same as the current Visual FoxPro client. |
What is the recommended SQL Server infrastructure (memory and processor(s)) for 30-50 users? |
For this many users, Cogent recommends at least a 2GHz processor with 2 to 4 GB of RAM. The more users you plan to have on the system and the more data being processed, the higher these specifications should be. If necessary, you may want to consider a distributed set-up (i.e., Cogent application on one server and SQL Server on another server.) |
Are backups performed simultaneously with users logged in, or with all users logged off? |
Standard SQL procedure is to back up when users are off the system, though it can be done when users are logged on. |
Is an API (or XML interface) available for the Cogent database to allow interfacing with other applications? |
There are currently no plans to develop an API. |
Are there any stored procedures for the database? |
Yes. The exact number changes. |
What is the estimated memory footprint of a CogentQC.Net client? |
On start up, the memory usage is about 70 MB (at the login prompt). This may expand to 150MB or more, depending on various factors, During data import, it will almost certainly expand. |
What is the estimated server disk space requirement? |
The following estimates are meant only as a guide and reflect a typical deployment.
|
Has the feedback functionality of CogentQC.NET been validated to work with Internet Explorer 7 |
Yes. |
Does the Outlook functionality make any modifications to the Outlook client or scan emails for content? |
No. |
Does the application have performance spikes or performance needs that would require a dedicated application server? (e.g. are there periods where CPU or memory spikes or stays high when running certain tasks that could cause resource conflicts with other applications?) |
The factors that determine the strain on server resources are a) how many users are using the application at the same time, and b) what they are doing. The three most strenuous tasks that are performed are importing, reporting, and sampling. These are the functions that incur prolonged periods of CPU usage. However, nothing about the application would require a dedicated application server. The decision of whether a dedicated application server would be necessary is entirely a subjective one. Obviously, the more resources available to the execution of the various instances of the application, the faster they will run, collectively. |
Are passwords encrypted in transmission when logging on? |
Yes. |
Does the application recognize when the same account is logged on simultaneously in two or more instances (e.g., account "user123" is logged on from two locations simultaneously)? |
Yes, and it’s not allowed. |
Are successful and failed logins logged? Does the application log when a user reads sensitive information? |
Successful logins, yes. No. |
Does the application log when records are written to/changed? |
No, but we do log when a loan is sampled, opened for review, completed review, etc. |
Does the application log when records are deleted? |
Yes, for sampled records. |
Does the application record the date and time of logged actions? |
Yes. |
Our IS group prefers assignable roles for individual users. Can security permissions be assigned via a role? |
Not as of yet. |
Can the user access be maintained with NT or ED security groups? |
No. This is not plausible for us to implement. |
Is there IBM Business Objects integration? |
No. |
Is the reporting tool a Business Objects Universe? |
No. |
How much time do you estimate will be required by our IT staff to implement the .NET upgrade? |
This will vary from client due to internal protocols, institutional size, security requirements, deployment method, configuration and other variables. Cogent estimates that the following number of hours is a reasonable estimate (based on actual results for a medium-sized regional bank): |
How do you recommend that we partition server drives? |
Cogent has no recommendations. |
